LA Protester Shows Up With Mexico Flag, American Flag, and Pride Flag Just to Cover All Bases

LOS ANGELES — Hoping to protest ICE without “getting canceled by the internet or misrepresented by Fox News,” local activist Dylan “Dee” Martinez arrived at Tuesday’s downtown demonstration carrying what he described as “a fully intersectional flag loadout.”

“I didn’t come here to make mistakes,” said Martinez, wearing an American flag bandana, a Mexican flag poncho, and a Pride flag fashioned into a cape. “The stakes are too high, and so is the likelihood that someone screenshots me out of context.”

Martinez reportedly spent the morning arranging his flags for ideal visual symmetry “in case a helicopter gets overhead footage.” Each flag was strategically placed to show solidarity without implying favoritism. “I didn’t want one flag covering the others,” he explained. “That kind of visual hierarchy sends the wrong message.”

The activist considered bringing a handwritten sign but scrapped the idea after Googling whether ‘No Human Is Illegal’ had been deemed performative in a 2023 Reddit thread. “It’s just not worth the risk,” Martinez said. “I’d rather be silent and layered in fabric.”
