C-SPAN to Air UFC Fight from White House Lawn, Mike Johnson Named Guest Referee
IOWA — President Trump confirmed Friday that a live UFC championship bout will take place directly on the White House lawn during next year’s America 250 celebration—complete with C-SPAN coverage, fireworks, military jets, and Speaker Mike Johnson serving as the event’s guest referee.
“Nothing says freedom like sanctioned cage fights in the nation’s backyard,” Trump said during his Iowa speech. “It’s going to be tremendous—full fight, full gloves, no woke rules.”
UFC President Dana White will coordinate the match alongside Trump’s current communications director Steven Cheung, a former UFC spokesperson who once described NPR listeners as “emotional beta-dorks.” Fighters for the bout have yet to be announced, though sources say preliminary talks are underway for a title match between “two patriots with visible deltoids and vague foreign policy positions.”
Speaker Mike Johnson confirmed his participation via Truth Social, posting, “Honored to serve as the guest referee for this historic bout. I’ve prayed on it and received spiritual clearance to call knockouts objectively.”
A temporary octagon will be installed where the Obamas once planted kale, and F-35 jets will perform a low flyover before the intros.
C-SPAN confirmed they will broadcast the event in full, noting that while it doesn’t technically count as a congressional proceeding, “it will feature several congressmen in the front row.”
Critics have voiced concerns about holding a bloodsport on federal property, but Trump dismissed them. “People forget George Washington was jacked. As a middleweight? He’d flatten Biden in seconds—honestly, it wouldn’t even be close.”
