Border Patrol Unveils New Tourism Slogan: “What Happens in Vegas… Could Get You Detained”

LAS VEGAS — In a move observers are calling “refreshingly honest,” U.S. Border Patrol has updated its messaging to better reflect the current tourist experience: “What Happens in Vegas… Could Get You Detained.”

The slogan rollout follows a series of high-profile detentions involving Canadian backpackers, European fiancés, and at least one Welsh woman who made the fatal mistake of trying to enjoy a road trip.

“Some of these people had sunscreen, hiking boots, even pre-booked hotel rooms,” said one border agent. “That kind of preparation screams long-term infiltration.”

Authorities clarified that tourists can still legally visit the U.S.—so long as they don’t cross any lines, raise any flags, or speak with an accent near a major airport.

A DHS spokesperson emphasized that the new slogan helps foreign visitors prepare for “the uniquely American hospitality experience,” which may include fingerprinting, repeated interrogations, and complimentary access to a cement floor.

Tourism boards abroad are scrambling to respond, with Germany advising citizens to avoid eye contact and Britain encouraging travelers to “just go to Portugal instead.”

At press time, a French student had been placed in holding after authorities found a suspicious amount of SPF 50 in his backpack.
