Trump Insists Prices Are Down, Steps Into Grocery Store for First Time to Prove It
PALM BEACH — President Donald Trump on Friday took what aides described as “a bold, courageous step toward the common man,” visiting a grocery store for the first time in his life to prove that prices are “way, way down.”
“This is something no one’s ever done—people are saying it,” Trump told reporters outside Mar-a-Lago, flanked by aides and several confused Publix executives. “The fake news keeps saying prices are up. So I’m going to the grocery store myself, like a real American shopper, to show how low they really are. Very historic.”
Moments later, a full motorcade arrived at a West Palm Beach Publix as supporters waved signs reading TRUMP BUYS MILK FOR USA. Cameras followed the president through the automatic doors as he gazed around the store “like a man entering the moon.”
“I’m seeing beautiful prices—tremendously low,” Trump said, pointing to a $6.49 loaf of bread. “That’s basically free. People love me for that.”
Witnesses report the president pointed to a $6.79 gallon of milk and called it “a wonderful number” before asking aides “what the little yellow tags mean.” At the deli counter, Trump shook hands with employees and congratulated them on “how affordable everything looks.”
After struggling with a self-checkout screen, Trump emerged triumphant. “I’ve seen the proof myself,” he told cameras. “Prices are way down. Everyone should be thanking me—and shopping more often. It’s really beautiful in there.”
